The natural park Kellerwald-Edersee offers ideal conditions for hikers – in every season.
In spring the forest presents itself in a mellow green. On hot summer days it also provides a pleasant climate. During the sunny autum, the so called “Indian summer”, the forest shines in warm colours. A great experience is hike in the snow in wintertime to the Wüstegarten, a mountain situated about 700 m above sea level.
The forest consistently releases wonderful outlooks into the near and far surrounding area. Farming forms the image of the cultivated landscape and frames the picturesque villages. There, hikers will surely find the cosy guesthouse which invites to a rich snack.
It is possible to get to know the diversified and nature-orientated landscape of the low mountain range on well marked hiking trails. The trails “Kellerwaldsteig” and “Urwaldsteig Edersee” present by stages the characteristics of the region. Starting from every venue in the region and from especially signed parking areas for hikers you can walk different trails – ranging from easy up to advanced as well as from short and long trails. You can get the required maps at the city councils or community offices as well as at the tourism partners.
